It was a nice day. I was traveling from home to my institute IIT Roorkee along with my cousin. We took the ticket and started to chit chat. Train arrived in little while. We tried to board in general coach but it was so over crowded that it was practically impossible to board in. So naturally we both went to sleeper class. After a station or two ticket checker came in and asked for ticket.
As we had the general ticket and that was sleeper coach he asked us to change the coach or pay the fine. The fine was really huge which i could not afford or i didn't want to. I asked him that there is no other train on the day and it is practically impossible to get in the general coach as it was so overcrowded that one could not put even a single foot. He got real annoyed and said he will call the cops.
I asked him that he can do what he wishes to as it's not entirely our fault that we are traveling in that coach. As train was general coach was already overcrowded and railway people still keep on selling tickets. As there was no other train and general tickets are non refundable. So it makes the situation that the railway has taken the money for a promise of providing transportation. Now its not possible to board in general coach and you know if its not possible there then people will board in other coach for sure. Then what for you are asking the fine. id it for the false promise of providing transportation by railways? I was trying my best to convince him but he was unmoved. Is it our fault or railways. shouldn't they have some upper limit on tickets for general coach also. I mean how can you ask for money for something which you are not in position to fulfill. Thinking all this i was ready to go to court and jail. I was so involved in my thoughts and ticket checker took out his phone to call cops.
Then my cousin asked him that he have represented railways in games and he let us go on the very same ticket. Though it was all over but i was still thinking: was it purely my fault that i was traveling in a sleeper coach with a general ticket.....

hungama hai kyon barpa thori si jo pi li hai!
If you hope to see the play of words then you will be disappointed.
Recently there was lot of hue and cry about the movie Slumdog. People pointed out that movie doesn't depict India in good light. But i wonder can any of us deny the fact that the things shown in poor light in movie are not part of our society. We can't deny the existence of slums and situation out there. We can't deny the existence of begging rackets. All i want to say though it may not be the whole truth but its some part of our truth as Indian society.
I don't know whether we are more furious about those flaws in our society or because some one else pointed out. There is one thing if you won't except that darkness exists then you will hardly lite candle. So the very first step is excepting our flaws. We have always tried to cover shortcomings of our society in the name sanskriti. I don't know about which sanskriti we talk about. in most part of country women don't feel safe. Child abuse, rapes and what not. I don't want to put stats here. If you have eyes open you don't need the stats. Otherwise you can always find something to overlook this truth. Some excuse to make yourself feel good. You can always say that girls are responsible for many of rapes. why do they put on such clothes and what not. They go to pubs which is against indian culture. I wonder is going to pubs is wrong or women going to pub is wrong. And even if it is wrong does it give us right to force our will on them. If a person is drinking, all the harm is done to self. Until that person is nt troubling you. and In that case there is police.
If you find something wrong then you can protest against that as done by women in hills against the liquor sale. But beating people is not the way at least in any of civilised society.
